Te Māngai Pāho is the Crown entity responsible for funding media and content to promote Māori language and culture. Their aim is to whakanui i te reo Māori and Māori culture so that te reo Māori and tikanga Māori are spoken, heard, seen and valued. Te Māngai Pāho recently celebrated 30 years of te reo Māori creativity, innovation and excellence in the Māori broadcasting sector. Kia māhorahora te reo Māori!

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role:

The Kaihāpai Te Hua Waihanga is a pivotal role, leading the day-to-day delivery and administration of content funding initiatives in contribution to the revitalisation of te reo Māori. In this role, you’ll cultivate and sustain relationships with content creators to inspire innovative and impactful content in te reo Māori. You’ll be involved in funding rounds, content promotion, and creator development. The Kaihāpai’s contributions will support the growth of te reo Māori content and creators while ensuring that all activities align with tikanga and uphold the integrity of Te Māngai Pāho's funding processes.

This is a full-time role based in Tāmaki Makaurau, with some flexibility.

Mōu | About You:

As an advocate and practitioner of te reo Māori you’ll have a willingness to tautoko other kaimahi in this area when needed. Your experience in Māori content production (eg. television, digital, music) or content audience strategies will mean you can hit the ground running as you understand how these sectors operate. You will quickly learn Te Māngai Pāho policies and processes to be able to provide advice on funding to these sectors. You’ll have high initiative, enjoy a fast-paced environment and while a team player, will also be able to work autonomously.

Your written communication will be clear and concise when providing reporting and you’ll have the ability to understand the contestable funding process and implement policy where needed. Your ability to innovate, think strategically, and deliver results will be essential.
