Tumeke FM revived from the burning embers that once was to “Te reo ORA – our language LIVES”
Community engagement continues to be a key focus for growing and developing our brand in the community with more frequent on air interviews, outside broadcasts, kanohi kitea and competitions.
Recent activity on Tumeke FM includes;
We continue to use our digital platforms to assist in promoting on air activity and local news. In addition we have recently revised our music format to cater for a more varied audience and to date have received positive feedback since we changed our strategy.
We are humbled to announce the Chairman of Te Reo Irirangi o Te Manuka Tutahi, Judge Layne Harvey has been awarded with an Honorary Doctorate in Maori Development from Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi. Judge Harvey’s contribution to education, iwi and hapu development has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of our people.
Overall our reporting year has had a positive effect on our audience, staff and trust. The survival and retention of Te Reo Māori is a key focus, how we do this will always be an ongoing challenge.
