Te Māngai Pāho seeks to encourage innovation and collaboration with this RFP for innovative Māori language content made for primary distribution by iwi radio stations with concurrent availability via online platforms and/or social media. Te Māngai Pāho is committed to supporting the development of a healthy Māori media sector and improving the outcomes of the Maihi Karauna, the Crown's strategy for Māori language revitalisation.Te Māngai Pāho is also committed to providing opportunities for iwi radio to engage new audiences with innovative multi-platform content.
This new contestable funding opportunity will contribute to the production of new, high-quality, Māori language content for diverse Māori language audiences. Te Māngai Pāho will make up to $1 million available for this kaupapa.
Designed with prime-time radio slots in mind and good on demand/online support and promotion, the fund seeks innovative content ideas with high production values made for targeted Māori language audiences that will have a good shelf-life and be supported by multiple iwi radio stations. Proposals that involve a collaborative approach and bring interest from other platforms will be preferred. We expect the content to provide audiences with diverse Māori perspectives and original, informative and entertaining content.
