Assessment Criteria

Our Assessment Panels use a weightings system to ensure the full range of criteria is considered. Please note that the range of criteria have recently been updated to reflect the impact of the Right-shifting Model on the strategic direction of Te Māngai Pāho. 

(a) Capacity of the Applicant (20%)

  • Experience and capability of the Registered Provider
  • Quality of Financial Information (budget, cashflow, schedule etc)
  • Commitment to TMP statutory objectives and language revitalisation strategies
  • Commitment to capacity building 

(b) Quality of Concept (20%)

  • Innovative and appealing Māori centric idea
  • Well developed proposal to realise that idea
  • Clearly defined target audience for ‘right shifting’ 

(c) Promotion of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori revitalisation outcomes (40%)

  • Innovative, programme specific, language plan that has clearly defined language and tikanga objectives with a commitment to impact reporting
  • Ko te reo kia tika – quality of reo 
  • Ko te reo kia tika – frequency and eloquence
  • Ko te reo kia Māori – promotes a Māori world view
  • Ko te reo kia ora – contributes to normalisation
  • Ko ngā tikanga kia tautokongia – embraces tikanga Māori 

(d) Cost Effectiveness (20%)

  • Relative cost per hour 
  • Prospective Audience
  • Intended Impact
